Are you sick of buying extremely expensive, unhealthy (or even relatively healthy) dog treats? I am.
Homemade dog treats are definitely cost effective. They also allow us fur moms to control what ingredients our pups eat.
Easy Pumpkin Peanut Butter Dog Treats
These Easy Pumpkin Peanut Butter Dog Treats include natural peanut butter, which is high in protein and a dog FAVORITE.
They also include canned pumpkin. Pumpkin helps to make dogs regular… if you know what I mean.

In the past, one of my dogs was constipated. Our vet recommended mixing some pumpkin with her food. Pumpkin is high in water content and a great source of fiber. It is a great way to prevent and cure constipation.
These Easy Pumpkin Peanut Butter Dog Treats also include a tiny bit of cinnamon. Cinnamon has anti-inflammatory benefits for humans and dogs. I’ve also read that cinnamon can help regulate a dog’s blood sugar, making it a great option for dogs who are at risk for diabetes.
Which Peanut Butter to Use
As I described in my post, Peanut Butter Banana Dog Treats (Only 3 Ingredients!), it is extremely important to choose a peanut butter that does NOT contain xylitol.
According to VCA Animal Hospital, “xylitol is extremely toxic to dogs.”
I like to use (and eat) Skippy’s Natural Peanut Butter. It does not contain xylitol. It tastes great (I eat it by the spoonful). And, it doesn’t separate like other natural peanut butters.
Do dogs really love these easy Pumpkin Peanut Butter Dog Treats?
My dogs DEFINITELY do. I tried to stage a cute dog photoshoot with these treats… My youngest pup kept stealing the product and running away!!!
I had to give up on a photo before she ate them all!

I cut my easy Pumpkin Peanut Butter Dog Treats into adorable bone shapes using a cookie cutter from this Wilton Cookie Cutter Set.
This 5-piece Dog Bone and Biscuit Cookie Cutter Set is also perfect for homemade dog treats. It comes with 5 different sizes of bone shapes!
In order to cut out cute designs, just plop the mixed batter on some parchment paper, roll it out, then cut using the cookie cutters!
Other recommend shapes are circles, stars, or hearts( like I used in my Peanut Butter Banana Dog Treats).

Yields about 14 large dog treats.
- 1/2 cup Natural Peanut Butter (no xylitol)
- 1 cup Canned Pumpkin
- 2 cups Flour
- 1/4 tsp. Cinnamon
- 1 Egg
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
- Combine the Natural Peanut Butter, Canned Pumpkin, and Egg. Mix.
- Add the Flour and Cinnamon. Mix.
- Plop the mixed batter on a sheet of parchment paper. Spread it out to your desired thickness. The peanut butter can make the batter sticky. If you use a rolling pin, I recommend a marble one, like this Polished Marble Rolling Pin with Wooden Cradle. The marble helps to prevent dough from sticking to the pin.
- Cut out shapes of your choice, using cookie cutters.
- Place on a prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for about 12-14 minutes. Oven times vary. The edges will be set when the cookies are done.
- Let cool completely before giving to your dog.
I hope your dogs love them as much as mine do!
